LOOKING BACK ON SUMMER 2022

While the traditional demarcation of summer’s end is Labor Day, the official end of summer this year is Thursday, September 22. With that in mind, we thought we would take a look back.

ExSight finalized another investment which is still in stealth, but we’re eager to make it public soon. We’ve also been closely working with many of our portfolio companies on upcoming milestones and financings that should begin to be announced in the near future.

The highlight of our summer was meeting up with leadership from our portfolio companies, investors, and others from the world of ophthalmic innovation in New York this past July as many gathered in NYC for the American Society of Retina Specialists Annual Meeting.

Dr. Rahhal got things started as co-chair of the OIS Retina 2022, discussing Hot Topics in the Retina Space. In addition to company presentations, industry leaders discussed emerging trends in Gene & Cell Therapy and Dry AMD & GA. I later joined Firas on stage along with ONL Therapeutics CEO David Esposito and colleagues from InFocus Capital Partners and Outlook Therapeutics to discuss financing early-stage drug development.

ExSight portfolio company, Re-Vana Therapeutics would go on to win the “Retina Innovation Award’ in Drug Delivery at the Summit.

Re-Vana’s CEO Michael O’Rourke is pictured with the ExSight Ventures team and the 2022 Retina Innovation Award.

ExSight hosted a reception the following day for our portfolio companies, investors, and leaders from industry and innovation. It was great to see so many of our friends and colleagues in one place after a prolonged absence of ExSight-sponsored events. Representatives from ONL Therapeutics, Envision Diagnostics, Horizon Surgical, ELIOS Vision, Re-Vana Therapeutics, and 2C Tech gave short updates on their company’s progress.

We look forward to hosting more in-person events and seeing our friends in the coming months. Next up, AAO in Chicago!
